Hair Loss after Pregnancy
Hair loss after pregnancy is common due to the hormonal changes in woman’s body. After giving birth, the level of estrogen in woman’s body is very low, and a decreased level of estrogen is one of the major causes for hair loss. Therefore this should not cause undue concern. The most common time period of hair loss related to pregnancy occurs approximately three to six months after giving birth.
During pregnancy, the hormones and chemistry of a woman’s body changes. When pregnant, women have a heightened level of both estrogen and progesterone. During this period, your hair grows thick and lustrous. However after delivery, this level dropped drastically and this causes their hair to slip into the sleeping state. Once the child has been born, the sleeping hair follicles begin to fall out. Hair loss after pregnancy varies for every woman. To a number of women, not many strands are lost.
